Ace Reader Pro is considered once of the most advanced and sophisticated speed reading software solutions, and there is no doubt it lives up to this expectation. But does it outperform some of the other top options? In many areas it is equal, but it falls behind in a few key areas and as such, may not appeal to everyone searching for the ultimate speed reading solution.
Although it has been recently updated with new capabilities like PDF upload, on the downside are problems like the inability to go back and give more attention to previous tasks or aspects of the software, due to the course having to be completed in a specific order. This may not bother most people, and the interactive games, drills and tests certainly have the capability to distract from this small downfall.
It can also be disappointing to learn that Ace Reader does not give you 100% of the content that you'll need to complete the speed reading course. Rather, AceReaderPro gives you just half of the package, and the second package must be purchased separately with AceReader Deluxe. This can lead to a more expensive investment than one first expected or planned.
There are also some add-ons which, instead of being included in the packages, are charged at $20 each.

- Up to 20 minutes is needed per session for Ace Reader, which is a little more than is required for some of the other speed reading software. This can make it a little more difficult for busy people to fit into their schedule, but would suit those with ample leisure time.
- It is possible to tailor the software for classroom or tutorial environments for multiple users, however this is not available in the cheapest standard version.
