Verizon Galaxy S III bootloader unlock app hits Play Store

Verizon Galaxy S III bootloader unlock app hits Play Store

When Samsung dropped their popular Galaxy S III smartphone the first thing many enthusiasts in the Android world did was root it, unlock the bootloader, and start developer custom ROM’s followed by Jelly Bean ports. In their usual fashion Verizon made Samsung lock down the bootloader on their version. So while every other phone was having fun, Verizon’s wasn’t. Today we have an app to solve that.

Those awesome developers from XDA and RootzWiki always manage to out think these problems and come up with ways to unlock our favorite devices. For those following along, the bootloader for Verizon’s Galaxy S III has recently been cracked and last night an easy to use tool was released, but nothing like the app available now.
Those same awesome developers have now bundled up that unlock method in to what might be the easiest bootloader unlock process you’ve ever seen. A simple app in the Google Play Store. It’s called EZ-Unlock and is exactly that. Just download it (by clicking here) make sure you have root access, and hit that massive unlock button. That was easy!

That isn’t all either. They’ve also made the app a simple way to lock the bootloader too for those in need. Simply fire it up and you can now lock the bootloader the same way in case you need to send it in for warranty replacement. The folks from CyanogenMod have recently released a test build of Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean for the Verizon Galaxy S III, so that’s a good place to start. Enjoy!

Server-Sent Events - One Way Messaging
-------------------------------------------------------------------

A server-sent event is when a web page automatically gets updates from a server.

This was also possible before, but the web page would have to ask if any updates were available. With server-sent events, the updates come automatically.

Examples: Facebook/Twitter updates, stock price updates, news feeds, sport results, etc.

1) Create a new EventSource object, and specify the URL of the page sending the updates (in this example "ServerSendEvent" Servelet page)
2) Each time an update is received, the onmessage event occurs
3) When an onmessage event occurs, put the received data into the element with id="result"

New York artist fashions dead drop from dying hardware, mounts DVD burner in city wall
The optical drive may be making its exit in the world of personal computing, but at least it seems to still have a place in artistic architecture. Aram Bartholl -- the man behind New York City's infamous USB dead drops -- has installed a DVD burner into the side of the Museum of the Moving Image to promote HOT, an art exhibition described as "a group show about video that is not video." Passersby who pop in a blank DVD-R will be rewarded with a digital copy of the show and the satisfaction of finally having something to do with their aging stash of unused optical media. Just how do you install PC hardware in a museum wall? Drill an enormous hole, of course -- check out a video of the installation for yourself after the break.

Sony starts pushing Android 4.0 update to Xperia P owners, Xperia U and more coming soon
Sony Xperia P review
Sony has been steadily deploying its Android 4.0 updates, but it's been leaving some of its newest phones out of the loop. Consider the Xperia P back in the groove: its upgrade is rolling out over the course of a few weeks, starting today. As always, the exact timing will depend on the carrier and country, and some owners may have to download the update the archaic, wired way instead of through the air. Should the Xperia P deployment still leave your device out of the running, Sony keenly points out that the Xperia U, Xperia go and Xperia sola are next on deck to receive a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich. About the only question left is when Android 4.1 will reach any Xperia models, although we're really just thankful to have much of Sony's current lineup on the same page.

Custom ROM brings Android 4.0.4 to the Desire HD, does what HTC couldn't
HTC wasn't too popular when they denied Desire HD owners a hearty mouthful of Ice Cream Sandwich, but as usual, the community over at XDA Developers has stepped up to make it happen. Despite HTC claiming various technical issues as barriers for the upgrade, Team Blackout's Android 4.0.4 build (aka Blackout ICS Incredible) is said to work perfectly on the device. The complete ROM is based on an ICS build for the Incredible S, and it requires you sacrifice your data in a full wipe before you can enjoy that Sense 3.6 UI. However, if you've got the knowledge to take advantage of this gift, you probably know how to backup all those bytes anyway. Hungry? Then head over to the source for your desirable dessert.

Lenovo reveals K860 LePhone, quad-core Exynos and a 5-inch screen

Lenovo reveals K860 LePhone, quad-core Exynos and a 5-inch screen

It's been a pretty good week for Lenovo all things told, but the Chinese firms isn't stopping to congratulate itself too much. Today, it's business as usual, marked by the official arrival of the new K860 "Music Phone" aka LePhone. The quad-core 1.4GHz Exynos 4412 chip, Mali-400MP GPU, 5-inch (1,280 x 720) display, 1GB of RAM and slight 9.6mm-thick form should come together to sing a sweet song though. The 8-megapixel snapper is no slouch either, with support for 100 frames continuous shooting and 1080p video recording (plus there's a 2-megapixel camera around the front, too). If all this sounds like a recipe for battery-drain, there's a 2,250 mAh cell to help keep you going. This will all be running on Android 4.0.4, but currently no word on price or availability -- but it's not like there aren't any other large phones to think about in the meantime.
Update: We got a little excited in the translation for a moment there. The "Music" (or Happiness -- both pronounce "le") Phone is of course the LePhone we link to in the article.

iPhone reportedly vulnerable to text message spoofing flaw
If you're an iPhone owner, you may want to use good judgment before responding to any out-of-the-blue text messages in the near future. French jailbreak developer and security researcher pod2g finds that every iPhone firmware revision, even iOS 6 beta 4, is susceptible to a flaw that theoretically lets a ne'er-do-well spoof the reply address of outbound SMS messages. As Apple is using the reply-to address of a message's User Data Header to identify the origin rather than the raw source, receiving iPhone owners risk being fooled by a phishing attack (or just a dishonest acquaintance) that poses as a contact or a company. A proof of concept messaging tool is coming to the iPhone soon, but pod2g is pushing for an official solution before the next iOS version is out the door. We've asked Apple for commentary and will get back if there's an update. In the meantime, we wouldn't panic -- if the trickery hasn't been a significant issue since 2007, there isn't likely to be a sudden outbreak today.

HP creates Mobility division to focus on consumer tablets, taps ex-MeeGo maven Alberto Torres to run it

HP creating Mobility division to focus on consumer tablets, taps exMeeGo maven Alberto Torres to run itDespite the culling of Palm's offerings from its product portfolio, HP isn't exiting the tablet space. Far from it. Evidence of a new tablet has been floating around since April, and we've even caught a couple glimpses of the so-called Slate 8. Now, The Verge reports that the company has created a Mobility unit within the Personal Systems Group dedicated to making such consumer hardware. According to a leaked internal memo, it looks like Alberto Torres, formerly chief of MeeGo ops at Nokia, will be the man in charge of the new division. The Mobility group will first focus on tablets, with a "soon-to-be-launched" initial offering, but it plans to expand into other product segments moving forward. The full leaked memo can be found at the source below.

Techniques for dilution, misdirection and control of Internet forum

Techniques for dilution, misdirection and control of Internet forum

Recently, an interesting document was revealed by Cryptome, a website, similar to Wikileaks, which tries to publish documents states and private companies have kept secret. This document, named The Gentleperson's Guide To Forum Spies (spooks, feds, etc.) is about how to spy, misdirect, dilute and create disinformation on Internet forums. After reading it, you might probably notice that you already encountered such attempts on your forum, and that, maybe, your forum has several members being counterproductive and making everything to muffle your voice and the voice of your community.
In addition to giving some tips about how to disinform, track and spot people doing it, the original author, from the form COINTELPRO US agency, explains 6 techniques about manipulating a community and its forum:
  1. Forum Sliding: Consists of posting many new threads to pollute and make a sensitive and critical thread disappearing in dozen of useless content.
  2. Consensus Cracking: Using several accounts, you would post as a user an information which looks good, but that has some weaknesses. Step by step, with another account, you will argue and prove that the original post is not as good as it looks, and the involved community will start trusting you and following your positions.
  3. Topic Dilution: A bit similar to Forum Sliding, the goal here is to dillute the topic of a sensitive thread by being totally off-topic or start arguing on different/minor things. At the end, the trolls might start, and the original topic is going to be forgotten.
  4. Information Collection: By giving some fake information about yourself, some members might start replying you about their personal information about the same topic. You can be even smarter by indirectly getting these information, for instance, talking about a car brand just to know how many persons use a car.
  5. Anger Trolling: If you try to know who are the posters the most inclined to violence, you can start pushing themselves to act like this by intentionally posting a bad (racist, intolerant) topic. By the way, you can convince shy persons to act by posting with fake accounts multiple anger messages, just to show them everybody is involved in replying in a bad way to the original poster.
  6. Gaining Full Control: After playing a long time with the previous techniques, you can start being considered as a relevant and gain the confidence of the forum administrator, reaching the forum moderator status. With these credentials, you can unobtrusively start moderating or removing sensitive topics, and, in a long perspective, try to shut down the forum by making it non interesting any longer.rtechinsane,icodesource,SEO,SEO Tips,SEO Backlinks,SEO content,SEO tricks,SEO Engine,codes,gadgets,iphones,ipad,4G phones,geeks,reviews,database,DBMS,

"Omit The Protocol" And 7 Other Tips To Write Better Web Code

"Omit The Protocol" And 7 Other Tips To Write Better Web Code

HTML and CSS Style Guide

Omit The Protocol

Omit the protocol portion (http:, https:) from URLs pointing to images and other media files, style sheets, and scripts unless the respective files are not available over both protocols. Omitting the protocol from embedded resources makes the URL relative and avoids mixed content issues and results in minor file size savings.

Not Recommended

<script src="https://www.example.com/scripts/javascript.js"></script>

body{
background: url(http://www.example.com/images/background.jpg);
}
<img src="http://www.example.com/images/logo.png" />

Recommended

<script src="//www.example.com/scripts/javascript.js"></script>

body {
background: url(//www.example.com/images/background.jpg);
}
<img src="//www.example.com/images/logo.png" />
When a URL's protocol is omitted, the browser uses the underlying document's protocol instead. It looks strange at first, but this "protocol-less" URL is the best way to reference third party content that's available via both HTTP and HTTPS. This would certainly solve a bunch of mixed-content errors we're seeing on HTTP pages — assuming that our assets are available via both HTTP and HTTPS.

Code Formatting Rules

Indentation:

Don't use tabs or multiple tabs for indentation. Instead use 2 spaces at a time to indent your code.

Avoid Capitalization:

Always use lowercase only and avoid capitalization whenever possible. All your code has to be in lowercase. This applies to element names, attributes, attribute values (unless text/CDATA), selectors, properties, and property values (with the exception of strings).

General Rules

Encoding:

Always use UTF-8 as character encoding. Specify the encoding in HTML templates and documents via <meta charset="utf-8">. Do not specify the encoding of style sheets as these assume UTF-8.

Comments:

Remove all unnecessary and unwanted comments from your HTML, Java Script and CSS, as it save many bytes of data, and reduces the file size and browser renders them faster. Use comments to explain code like what does it cover, what purpose does it serve.

Entity Code:

There is no need to use entity references like ", , or , assuming the same encoding (UTF-8) is used for files and editors as well as among teams. The only exceptions apply to characters with special meaning in HTML (like < and &) as well as control or "invisible" characters (like no-break spaces).

TYPE Attributes:

Omit type attributes for style sheets and scripts. Specifying type attributes in these contexts is not necessary as HTML5 implies text/css and text/javascript as defaults. Do not use type attributes for style sheets (unless not using CSS) and scripts (unless not using JavaScript).

Writing Mistakes You Didn't Know You Make

Writing Mistakes You Didn't Know You Make

Grammer
Between blogging, social media, website publishing, email messaging, and cell phone texting, daily writing has become an integral part of many people's lives. While a good deal of online writing is informal, for Internet publishers who are small business owners, the written word is our potential customers' first impression of us and our businesses. Therefore it is crucial to present our best writing whether we create it ourselves or outsource it.
After carefully crafting a piece of writing, optimizing it for search engines, and designing the article layout, take the time to look for mistakes in spelling, grammar, and structure. Many readers won't be able to identify the errors, yet they will react negatively to poor writing. It's difficult to follow and understand an article that contains too many mistakes.
Here is some of what to look for as you proofread.

Punctuation and spelling

These are probably the easiest mistakes to correct because modern spelling and grammar checker programs will catch most of them. However, don't completely rely on those programs. Be on the lookout for common spelling errors such as:
  • Words that sound alike such as they're, their, and there; some and sum; and to, too, and two.
  • Frequently misspelled words, for example, guarantee, develop, recommend, accommodate, and argument.Find a list of the 200 most commonly misspelled words at About.com.
Commas are probably the most misused punctuation mark. Here are some rules to keep in mind:
  • Include a comma in a compound sentence.
    Correct: On Monday my sisters run at the track, and on Tuesdays they run around the neighborhood.
  • Avoid using a comma to form a run on sentence. When independent clauses are not joined by a conjunction they can be separated with a semicolon or split into two sentences.
    Incorrect: On Mondays my sisters run at the track, on Tuesdays they run around the neighborhood.
  • Use commas to separate items in a list of three or more.
    Correct: My brother runs on a treadmill, at the track, and in the neighborhood.

Word Choice

All writing boils down to word choice and it's what many of us agonize over. Our words express ideas, convey meaning, set the tone, and define style. Word choices lead readers to understanding or confusion. Words evoke emotion. In business word choices impact sales, subscriber numbers, and return site visitors.
You may be overusing jargon and acronyms, misusing commonly confused words, and making grammar errors in subject and verb agreement, pronoun and noun matches, and parallel structure.
Here are some examples of commonly confused words.
  • Which vs. that
    That is used in a restrictive element – a clause that is necessary for the meaning of the sentence. Which is used for a non-restrictive element – a clause that can be removed without making the sentence meaningless.
    A treadmill that is regularly maintained should last at least several years. The treadmill, which is my brother's favorite exercise equipment, needs repair.
  • Less or fewer
    Use fewer when with something you can count and less for something you cannot.
    My brother runs fewer miles than my sister. He wouldn't have to run so far if he ate less.
  • Affect or effect
    Honestly, this one still confuses me. As Grammar Girl explains, affect is usually used as a verb and effect as a noun. You'll also find explanations of many other commonly confused words on her site.
Unless you are writing for a very specific audience who expects it, avoid the use of jargon and acronyms. Many people won't understand what you're talking about.
To avoid common grammar errors:
  • Make sure the subject and verb agree in number. Both must be singular or plural, for example, my sister runs or my sisters run. It's fairly easy in a simple sentences like those, but matching can get a little tricky at times. Can you correct the errors in the following sentences?Each of my sisters run daily.
    The error is incorrectly identifying the plural sisters as the subject. The subject is the singular each.
    Correct: Each of my sisters runs daily.Neither my sisters nor my brother run on a treadmill. When one subject is singular and the other plural the verb agrees with the nearest subject.
    Correct: Neither my sisters nor my brother runs on a treadmill.
    My sisters and my brother run outdoors.
    This sentence is correct. Subjects joined by and require a plural verb.
    The team run every day.
    Collective nouns are usually singular.
    Correct: The team runs every day. Grammar Girl explains when collective nouns are plural and describes the differences in American and British usage.
  • Match pronouns and nouns in number and gender
    When my sisters run they wear bright colors, but my brother almost always wears his black t-shirt.
  • Use parallel structure so that each item in a list or comparison should follow the same grammatical pattern. Proper structure creates patterns that improve readability.
    Incorrect: The typical runner prepares by stretching, next jogs, and finishes by sprinting. Correct: The typical runner prepares by stretching, starts out jogging, and finishes by sprinting.

Active Voice

Use an active voice whenever possible. It's clearer and more concise and has greater impact than a passive voice. An active voice means the subject is taking action. With a passive voice, the subject has everything done to him or her.
Passive: The 5K race was won by my sister.
Active: My sister won the 5K race.
There will be times when you choose to break the rules, but do so knowingly and intelligently. It's also important that you not become so fearful of making mistakes that you don't write. In fact, I'm quite nervous about publishing this piece because surely I've missed at least one or two glaring mistakes that others will spot immediately.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 renders leaked

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 renders leaked

Earlier this morning reports surfaced regarding images of Samsung’s mysterious Galaxy Note 2 smartphone phablet. Sadly those images from KnowYourMobile were fake, and actually from a render that leaked this morning on Twitter. While this could indeed be the final design of the new device, we can’t be certain.

While these renders aren’t official, they are very similar to recent rumors and other leaks. Earlier this week we saw pictures that were rumored to be the Galaxy Note 2 front panel, confirming the large dedicated home button, larger screen, and super thin bezel around the screen. These mockup images making the rounds this afternoon are a fine blend between the Galaxy S III, and that leak.
According to the earlier reports this device will be quite powerful rocking Samsung’s Exynos 1.4 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 12 megapixel camera, and of course that 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display. Many believe that Samsung will be following the Galaxy S III design and elegance, and blending that into a large 5.5-inch device, as pictured above.
The fan made renders today could have some substance behind them, but for now we’ll just have to wonder. Samsung is set to debut and unveil their Galaxy Note 2 to the world later this month during their Samsung Unpacked event in Berlin, Germany. We’ll be there live on August 29th to bring you all the details too. Most likely we’ll be seeing and hearing more about the Note 2 in the coming weeks, so we’ll keep our eyes out for additional details.
